Brendan of the Bonus Army interview

The Bonus Army is breaking through the BHC scene in a big way. They will be hitting the road March 13th with The Carrier on an east coast tour. With the track record of Rock Vegas bands I'm expecting big things to come from these guys. Here's an interview I did with Brendan. Check them out at www.myspace.com/thebonusarmy

Alright, so who is The Bonus Army and describe each member in one word:

Freddy B on guitar - Crazy
Fro on Bass- Disgusting
Dan on Guitar- German
Alex on Drums- Its hard for me to do this one for Alex. He is new. once we get back from tour i could probably come up with a word
Brendan (me) on Mic- FUN

Whats the deal with the new record coming out on Rock Vegas? How has it been working with Kris?

We are hoping to have this cd out for late spring. It's called Negative Outlooks. It is ten songs. 3 songs re-recorded and 7 new songs that have never been released. Working with Kris has been good. He hooks us up with shows around the area to help promote us a little more, and he knows what he is doing, so it has been good working with him.

Any touring plans for the summer?

We are definitely going to be hitting the road at some point this summer. We are not sure when we will be doing this yet. I am trying to finish school on time so I am going to be taking a few summer classes, and everyone else works jobs. There have been talks of us doing 10 days with Hammer Bros, which we would really love to do. Who knows we might try to make out way out to the west coast at some point this summer also.

Whats your favorite thing about the Boston Hardcore scene?

There is so much that I love about the scene here in Boston. I must say my favorite thing about it though is that a lot of the people that go to shows around here, make up a lot of the bands in BHC. Its really cool seeing people in bands that I love to see at a show they are not playing.

It's awesome that you'll see dudes in bands at tons of shows and i don't think that happens in lots of scenes.

Boston is on top.

Who in your opinion is the best mosher?

Wow. This is a tough one. I can't really say who is the BEST, but some note worthy ones are Garvey, yourself, Anthony from the Carrier, the list just goes on
.

Bearded Garvey, Posi top Garvey, or Garvey in a sleevless Warzone hoody?

I am going to have to go with Bearded Garvey....he is so beastly.

One last question, 1 show, with 5 bands of your choice. who plays?

Elvis Presley would open, then in no order...Blood for Blood, Minor Threat, Watchfire and The Carrier. I would die happy.

Any last words, call outs, shout outs?

Be sure to check out our cd Negative Outlooks when it drops in the spring time. support BHC, Anchors Up!, The Carrier, Watchfire, Ignorance, COA, RVR...and I mosh harder then Sean Cunningham.

Harm's Way "Reality Approaches"

Wow. This record is fucking hard. Harm's Way from Chicago play heavy hardcore with metal influences like Carcass, Napalm Death, and a little Crowbar. I saw these guys play in some random town outside Worcester and was into their Breakdown cover. After hearing the "Delusion/Repression" 7" I was hooked. Fortunately both of those songs are re-recorded on "Reality Approaches". The Intro kicks in with some mean drums and a bass line that will get you moshing. "Code of the Huns" is real thrashy until a slow breakdown. The aforementioned "Repression" and "Delusion" are next and are some of the top tracks on the record. Constant mosh. "Heillos Warnung" is something Germanic barbarians probably listened to before they raped and pillaged villages of douchebags. It also leads into "Warriors Will Reign" which is probably the heaviest song of the year. The rest of the album is solid with the title track being another highlight. "Reality Approaches" is definitely made for the gym to make gains to. Especially since their top Myspace friends include Muscular Development and Gregg "Ramblin' Freak" Valentino. Check out their other bands too, Convicted and Weekend Nachos. Solid

Ed Grimmarsh/Back Of The Neck Interview

That's right. After dropping a "new" cd on Rock Vegas, and a long rumored return to playing shows, BOTN is back full steam. I did this interview with Ed to shed some light on the comeback.

So Ed, whats good in Brockton? Whats up with Back Of The Neck?

Whats good in Brockton is its back. The return show was great. Death Threat, COA, BOTN, POW, Energy, COK, how can that not be an awesome show. Kids had a good time and it was a good turnout. Was good to be home in the city of champions. I guess for now shows are going to be once a month.

B.O.T.N is back full time. Got four new dudes in the band, kinda pulled a Rick Ta Life, but all the past members either fell out of the core or were told to fuck off. Its good though, we have a bunch of shows coming up and new merch so we are siked to play.

How was the reception to the new lineup? Kids going off? Maybe even a pit appearance by Brophy?

It was good for the most part. People didn't care that it was a new lineup, and those who do fuck em. Kids were going off and having fun, singing along which was awesome for me cause i was nervous that after a four year break kids woudn't care but so far they have proven that they want to see us. Barophy did not make a pit appearence or even a show appearence for that matter. He has been blacklisted hahahahahaha fuck that kid and his big dumb fucking mouth.

That news about Brophy definitely doesn't surprise me ha. What's up with the album that came out on Rock Vegas? Does Pat have anything to do with this new incarnation?

The album is called "Hated By All". We recorded it 4 years ago and then broke up so we put it aside. Then about a year and a half ago I decided it was time to put it out and stop wasting a good recording. its a mix of old and new songs and still Back Of Tha Neck, ignorant.

Pat does have a little to do with this. He sings "My Hate" when we play shows, cause that was his song, He wrote it and it sounds better with two singers anyway. Other than that he just smashes kids in the crowd hahahahahaha.

What are 3 bands you're psyched on right now?

Trapped Under Ice
Reign Supreme
Death Threat, no matter what always siked on this band.

Hardest pit you've ever been in?

Hands down Blood For Blood in Boston! Dudes never fucked, around always a masacre.

Top 5 albums?

Agnostic Front- One Voice
Death Threat- Peace and Security
blood for blood- tie between Hurt You demo and Spit My Last Breath
Cro-Mags- Age of Quarrel
Pennywise- Unknown Road

Any shows coming up?

Fri Oct 17
Bobby Allens
Waterbury Conn.
Death Threat
Death Before Dishonor
Living Hell
BOTN
and 2 others

Sat Oct 18
Club Hell
Prov RI
Skarhead
Bulldoze
Danny Diablo
Crowns of Kings
BOTN

Last words, shoutouts, disses, shit talking?

Thanks C Nothing for this and for fighting for my right to run my fucking mouth. Want to say thanks to the kids who listen to BOTN and actually get it. Shoutouts to Death Before Dishonor, Colin Of Arabia, Crowns of Kings( check this shit out), KM and Brockton shows, our raging partners Death Threat and the almighty nation of FSU.

Fuck all you little scene kids who ride nuts and wont be here in a year i don't give a fuck that you hate my band cause we are too angry and violent. Take your posi attitude and suck my dick. Brophy your'e a joke fuck off. Two stepping was cool when it was called skanking, and you are all cunts. I'll c u in the pit motherfuckers.

The Night Of Gopesh And Lurch

All we wanted to do was party......

But that dream was quickly dashed by the tag team duo from Alpha Ki Eighty, Gopesh and Lurch.

The night started off like another other on a weekend with the raucous crew of friends. We were all out trying to celebrate Joey Cogs (from shows) birthday. Walking down Linden St. our eyes grew wide at the mass sea of party peoples gathered. Instead of going into the crowded group of dudes wearing Fox Racing t shirts, why not go to the smaller party?

That's where the trouble began....

Upon our blocked entrance, a small Indian kid comes out screaming threats. "Hey man, I'm Stephen" trying to be cordial. No dice. As he explains that his name is Gopesh and he is a part of Alpha Ki Eighty. For some reason Gopesh decided that we were Boston University freshman. "What are you? Freshman? Class of 2011?" He said mockingly. We all knew we were in trouble when Gopesh called a buddy over to grab Lurch from the party going on inside. The taunts from the party goers were getting louder with each second passing as Lurch got closer. The moment of truth came....

"Hey Brah" Joe Cogs was calling Lurch downstairs, not impressed with his 6'4", 160 lb build. "How bout we go shot to shot in the chest?" challenged Joe. He was no match for Lurch. As Gopesh and I argued about who parties harder, a pillow came flying into his head. That was it, time to get out of there. Did you think I wanted to get fucked up by Lurch? No way. Not that night. After being punked out by Lurch, I have spent many a night searching the streets of Boston. Revenge is what I seek. Screaming his name and banging on Gopeshs' window with bed frames and assorted trash. I'll find Lurch one day. And victory will be mine

First Post

So I've decided to stop being lazy and finally make this. While I'm in Iraq, this will be a good way to post updates and pictures and what not of my miserable daily life here. Hopefully there will be some interviews and whatever else too. Keep checking back.
